Comment spam fix

November 3, 2004 | Comments (0)
I finally tried something else on my comment spam. I had installed Jay Allen’s mt-blacklist but that gave me some issues. First my database was corrupted which generated weird errors (like not finding YAML). I cleaned the list and run again with it. However with higher numbers of spam. Luckily I found this note: “Comment spam quick fix”. The fix relies on an additional hidden paramete rin your comment form which is checked for its presence in mt-comment.cgi. Lets hope this stops all spam…

for some reason this does not fix my problem permanently. Unfortunately I still get some batches of spam each week. I guess the people running these smap-bots do really check the form fields embedded in the html form.
