New stylish Nikon Coolpix S1

March 17, 2005 | Comments (0)

The new Nikon Coolpix S1 has been announced. It took quite some time before Nikon created a competitor for Canon Ixus range. It has some — new to Nikon — nice features like a 2.5” LCD display and folded optics. The box is a nice companion to the iPod although I think I would not go for the “Ivory White” one. Also the PowerBook version, a “Pure Silver” one is not my favorite. So there is only one color left; an “Ebony Professional Black” one. This version does not look like a gadget but just a pro-cam ;).

The camera has 5mpix, 35-105mm lens and a CoolStation docking station. According to the latest Nikon tradition, the firmware includes Face priority AF, in-camera red-eye reduction and D-Lighting.

So completely agree with you ET! This is something for in your back-pocket! Can’t wait to own one! Well, at least wait till april and have 380 bucks with me…

Nice to see Nikon is alive... And since nobody expected this camera maybe we can see a Coolpix 4500 replacement or at least a new swiveling camera. Who knows?
