Having read the complete series of Dune since Frank Herbert started the first novel, it is a shame that the quality gets worse and worse. The books his son wrote do only give additional details to the first book of Dune. This show to me how amazingly good this book was and how big the untold story was it has. This is the last book of the second prequel series where the Machine planet Corino is concurred.
A lot happens in this book. The machines destroyed and Agnamemnon killed. Especially the institutions like Mentats, Bene Geserit, Suk school and the Guild are kind of mentioned without much detail. This makes me believe that another prequel series is in preparation where these described in detail.
I gave the book the benefit of the doubt and it was a nice read — if you do not compare it to the original series!
