Binary XML?

March 26, 2005 | Comments (0)
having worked with XML for some time, the first thing you observer that it is sloooow. Especially with larger documents of about 100kb or more, the parsing step take quite some time. However it seems that the W3C is already busy since September 2003 (The Binary Interchange Workshop) to look into this problem! One of the big problems is backwards compatibility. I guess this is already a problem as there are a number of proposals for a binary format (most notably WAP Binary XML Content Format). Watch this space!
