Six o'clock

It was quite early this sunday morning so I decided to have “Whish you were here” from Pink Floyd on the CD player. It was a long time ago since I last played it — and it was as fine as ever.

I bought the album version around 1982. That was years after it originally came out in 1975. At first I didn’t like it at all. In essence its one big song for 45 minutes, with “Shine on you crazy diamond” as big theme divided in parts I - V and parts VI - IX. This is really an album to get used to. Because I paid about $12.- for it — which was a lot of money for me at that time — I probably had to like it to make up the investment.

The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.

If you read the amazon reviews you see almost always 5 stars, a few 4 stars and also some 1 starts from people who try to lower the overall rating. For me this is the best Pink Floyd album ever. It’s the only one which I upgraded to CD till now. I have listened to the CD version of “Dark Side of the Moon” but it felt a bit flat and I never bothered to buy it. So I would rate this: extremely recommended!

Oh, and the little nipper felt asleep…
