Getting Past Burnout, Busywork, and the Myth of Total Efficiency — by Tom DeMarco

The great fact within this book is that I always found slack a bit of a negative thing. However now I found that slack within an organisation makes it more efficient. Not cost efficient, but efficient in a way that there wouldn’t be piles of work on peoples desk that stop people start taking up urgent things. Just because there is some slack! Isn’t that nice for the customers!?

“Organizations sometimes become obsessed with efficiency and make themselves so busy that responsiveness and net effectiveness suffer.”

Definately a recommended read for in the plane…
