June 14, 2006 | Comments (0)

Nikon has announced that it will release formware upgrades for the Nikon D2X, Nikon D2Hs and Nikon D200, fall 2006. The D2X and D2Hs will get the features of the just released D2Xs. The D200 will only get the Image Authentication update.

“Nikon Image Authentication Software — New software enables verification of authenticity of images captured with a Nikon D2Xs digital SLR.”

Image authentication permits verification whether an image has been processed or edited after it was taken. It requires special software from NIkon and an USB key. It can be used on JPEG, TIFF and NEF(RAW) images.
