According the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, Canon will take over Leica Camera AG. In 2006 the merger will happen and in 2007 new products will hit the shelves. Will this solve the soft corner problem on Canon’s full frame DSLRs?
Update:Sorry for all the fuss, I got this information 3rd hand and can’t confirm this. From one point this would be good news as canon has some more money to spend then Leica at the moment. From the other side you would wonder what will be left from this authentic camera manufacturer when the merger is going to happen.

Where did you get the news? A search on the (English) edition of Asahi Shimbun shows no hits
I do like it -- not that I don't have others....
Sources! We need reliable sources! Like a statement from Canon or Leica.
Canon taking over Leica...? What to think of that? Right now, I don't know what to think.

Janco, your "report" has created lots of comment by Leica fans but no real confirmation. To clear the air, could you at least run here what you say you picked up from Asahi Shimbun, not just your words, but a picture of the newspaper's printed "report." regards, bob cole [leica fan].
what a disaster!! agfa doesnt exist anymore either...cuold be..probobly a joke..canon got betterbut not that good!!!anyway happy new year everybody!!
The original blog -- your third party source -- is full of BS. First, there is no article this thsi in the Asahi Shimbun (I searched in English and Japanese) and second, the has been NO announced cooperation between Carl Zeiss and Nikon as he indicates. Sorry, it's all a hoax.
Yep, Zeiss have no plans to release F mount lenses. Of course not.
Good site, good blog, thank
